Clarinet virtuoso Avigail Malachi is a diverse performer. From Classical music to Tango and Klezmer, Avigail masters her instrument in any style and aspect. In the past few years, Avigail’s main focus settled on Klezmer, Tango and folk music and she got to collaborate and work with top musicians from all over the world such as Giora Feidman, David Krakauer, Helmut Eisel, Sebastian Voltz, Raul Jaurena and Gitanes Blondes quartet among many others. During 2019 she is featured as clarinet Klezmer soloist on the off-broadway production of “Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish” at stage 42.
Teaching Artist in several music programs in NYC and abroad, Avigail is currently a faculty member both “Spence School” and “The Heschel School”. Past engagements include woodwinds coach with the “InterSchool Orchestras of NY”, the “Harmony Program” (El Sistema based education method) and the “Juilliard School” MAP program.
Ms. Malachi is a recipient of the AICF scholarships 1998-2009, the Rotary Foundation Special award, and the Nerken Scholarship Fund of UJA-Federation of NY 2009-2011.
A graduate of both Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (JAMD) and Mannes College The New School for Music in New York, Avigail received her Undergraduate degree in 2005 at JAMD in Israel and her Master of Music and Artist Diplomas in 2009 & 2011 from Mannes, studying with Charles Neidich and Ayako Oshima.
