Project Description
Seth Sikes is one of New York’s most acclaimed nightclub performers. His debut show Seth Sikes Sings Judy Garland sold-out all of its performances and won accolades from audiences and critics alike.
Hailed as “the best male singer of his generation on the cabaret scene” by Theatre Scene, Sikes recounted how Garland captivated him as a young boy in Paris, Texas, and sang some of the icon’s greatest hits with a seven-piece band. The show won Broadway World’s Best Tribute Show award while The New York Times said, “The performance — less an impression of Ms. Garland than an interpretation of her vibrato-heavy method of belting – was a hit.”
The critics were just as kind for his follow-up show Seth Sikes Sings Liza Minnelli and The New York Post said, “It was a heartfelt concert. Sikes has a heap of fans and his audiences are always tightly packed and brimming with enthusiasm for his booming, jazzy renditions of their favorite songs.”
Before becoming one of New York’s most talked-about performers Sikes worked in the theater behind the scenes. He was the Assistant Director of The Band’s Visit and The Nance on Broadway (starring Nathan Lane and directed by Jack O’Brien), and of the Off-Broadway productions of Tribes (directed by David Cromer) and Pageant. His other Assistant Director credits include Sondheim: The Birthday Concert (directed by Lonny Price), and Sweet Bird of Youth (directed by David Cromer and starring Diane Lane).
He directed the original musical Bunked!, which won Outstanding Musical at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2010, as well as The 7th Annual Broadway Beauty Pageant. As a performer, Sikes performed in Fame on 42nd Street Off-Broadway.
Seth’s most recent show Seth Sikes Sings Bernadette Peters sold-out its initial outing at Feinstein’s/54 Below and he has a slate of performances throughout 2017 including his much anticipated debut this June in London.
